Dubai income, UK school fees.
A client based in Dubai, paid in dirhams, is committed to UK school fees of around £60,000 a year for the next five years. Because the dirham is pegged to the dollar, their real exposure is to GBP/USD. We model the impact of sterling strength on the total cost, discuss the outlook, and set out options, from fixing part of the next two years' fees with forward contracts to a staged approach that keeps some flexibility.
This is a hypothetical example for illustration only and does not represent any actual client outcome.AED is pegged to USD, so sterling strength raises the cost in dirhams.
